When to give customers a heads up.

In the colder climates ... probably not necessary below the Mason/Dixon line. The following alert is on my website & printed on the back of our business cards. Over the years I was thanked many, many times.

ALERT:
Winter is just about over, now comes spring and summer, from a plumbing standpoint if an outside no-freeze faucet has failed and you don't know it, expensive damages may occur. First if you hook a hose to the faucet probably it will seem to work. Usually a nozzle
is on the hose and you can shut off the hose. If you don't test that faucet you could wind up with a couple inches of water on the inside. Here is how to test a no-freeze faucet ...
With no hose attached, put your hand where the hose screws on.
Slowly turn the valve handle open, just a little. If no pressure builds against your hand the valve has frozen and is broken. Call us for replacement. Don't use the outside faucet ...

YOU WILL FLOOD THE BASEMENT! OR SOME OTHER AREA OF THE PROPERTY ...
