Pressure tank issues
Hello, I was curious if anyone might be able to shed light on an issue I’m having with my pressure tank.
I have a Pentair SP 9 pressure tank on a residence with a well. A plumber came and looked at it while I was having the same issue last year and told me that it was a diaphragm tank. I now believe it might be an air over water tank, but I’m not sure... Our well pump is cycling after less than 2 gallons are pulled from a faucet. I have tried draining the tank completely twice using the valve on a hose spigot near the bottom of the tank. When I turn back on the well pump it goes back up to 48 psi and stops pumping, then quickly drops to 28 psi when we use less than 1.7 gallons of water (a single toilet flush) is used.
I can’t seem to find anywhere on the tank to hook up a air pump to pressurize it. I removed the little screw thing protruding from the elbow that leads to the pressure gauge. When I removed it I could see that one side of it looked like a bicycle tire valve, but it was facing up into the elbow and I simply don’t see a way to hook up a bicycle pump to it.
Pictures attached. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on my issue.
