15 cents worth of glue...
15 cents of glue would have saved this homeowner 15k worth of damage.
Got called out by the insurance company to figure out why there was 5 inches of water in the crawl space and a sagging kitchen floor. It was sagging so much the top of the fridge was resting on the drywall and at the bottom there was a 4 inch gap.
My first thought was leaking dishwasher or ice maker. Nope, didn't find a leak on either. Put on my rain boots and went down into the crawl space.
As you can see in the pictures the 3/4" PVC line to the a/c was not hooked up at all. Unfortunately for the homeowner it was dripping straight onto the main beam in the center of the house. I'm guessing it's been going on for a long time to have caused this much damage. There were even mushrooms growing on the wood.
That pipe was definitely forced in place. I ended up having to use 2 90's and 5" of pipe to get it set properly.
