Plumbing road trip...

Left town Thursday morning for northern Michigan and the UP for a couple of unseen jobs. Not the total mileage, but from Grand Ledge to the north end of Saint Ignace is 255 miles one way.

Master’s cabin is in Boyne Falls, toward the tip of the mitten. My neighbor has a cabin on her family property in BF and needs new water lines. North of Saint Ignace was a finish for a LL of ours.

Especially that far we don’t like unseen jobs. It would be ridiculous to take the cube. No supply houses around, closest Box Store that I know of is about an hour and a half away. Ace, true value and do it best are your only sources. We all know they’re just convenience hardware stores with convenience prices.

Well, thinking of moving next Thursday’s job to the week after to head back up with what we need to finish the jobs now that we’ve seen them. But we’re going to have to ride separate in both our pickups, as I need to leave by Saturday for our family Memorial Day weekend.

Now the really big problem, and any Michigander will tell you that when you pass Clare on your way north there’s a sense of weight taken off your shoulders... as if you are free from obligations, worries, aggravations and start to feel peace and relaxation. So it’s hard to work up there.

I have now crossed the bridge twice, honeymoon 14+ years ago, last Friday and third will be next Friday.
