Strange New Members

I've been exploring the site and I've noticed a lot of members that haven't posted anything. It seems they are all in the private message section. I find this odd. Do they use the site for secret emails or something?

The next thing I noticed are new members without any posts and in their signature they have links to what looks like probably spam. Strange.
