Smart/Wifi water heaters

We all know that this is where all appliances are heading. I’m in a mountain town with a lot of vacation homes etc. This is the first time I’ve been asked about installing a smart water heater. Rheem are making them at the moment. I’m not sure if anyone else is. Although there are other products. Aquanta is one such product.

Have any of you installed or had experience with this technology yet. I would usually wait until a second or third generation of these products comes around. Before starting to recommend them. But just like the Nest t-stats, I can see this being the thing everyone is upgrading to around here.
