Fool question I need answered....

I should know this but have not had to deal with it much....

I am dealing a LOT with Home Depot Rheem water heaters lately ....people are wanting these things fixed FAST and do not want to wait on warranty parts sent to them from Rheem in the next 10 days.... They have the crappy honeywell gas valve and the special thermoplye on them.....

Ok, Barnettes carries the crappy honey well thermostat that goes to this water heater but according to Barnettes there is the possibility of 4 different makers of thermopyles that could or might not work properly on the unit......

I have been only dealing with ICON valves on Bradford white heaters and changeing out those thermoplyes are simple because they are in the same box with the valve so there is no possibility of getting the wrong one for the
gas valve....

Home depot has the specific thermoplyle on their web site for their Rheem style gas heater and it cost $116.00

So my fool question is , are all thermopyles interchangeable??
like the old style thermocouplings or are their different amounts of millivolts required to power all these god awful gas controls on the market????

Can you throw an ICON thermoplye on any other honeywell valve and expect it to work properly??

I hang my head in shame waiting for someone to answer this question
