Charity work/ Giving back
Every year, our company adopts 1-3 families. We purchase them gifts, food , and clothes. This year, we were contacted by THaW ( the heat and warmth fund) in Detroit. A senior citizen living in the city has not had working heat or hot water for 2 years!!!
I went to the home to investigate the problems. The water heater is from 1983. The boiler is destroyed ( 145000 btu hot water system).
After speaking to 2 of my suppliers, we were able to procure a new Lochnvar Solution series hot water boiler and a Rheem 40 gallon water heater. All of this will be installed at no charge on December 28th.
I am not posting this for attention to our acts. I am posting to remind us all of how fortunate we are to have all that we do. Heat, hot water, a job, etc..... Never take it for granted. If you have the capabilities to give back to your community, you are very lucky to be able to do so.
Our job is demanding and difficult. But it provides us with everything we need. Karma is real.
